In 1978, when she was barely 19 years old, she managed to be crowned as the international representative of beauty of Costa Rica, thus obtaining the right to participate in the Miss Universe pageant .

Julián, su primer hijo
En el año 1995, Maribel Guardia y Joan Sebastian, fueron bendecidos con un nuevo integrante en su familia. La actriz y cantante estaba sumamente feliz de tener a su primer hijo, y no quiso ocultar esta felicidad.
